Local Canonbie Farmer is the latest recipient of Cranstons Focus on Quality Award
Farmer David Dickinson of Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie, is the first 2010 recipient of Cranstons Focus on Quality Awards. The Awards were instigated by Cranstons a few years ago to recognise and reward excellence among their local suppliers.
David, alongside his wife, Rosemary and family, have been supplying Cranstons with top quality locally-produced beef for almost 24 years. The Dickinson’s moved to the Canonbie area 16 years ago, farming first at Greenburn and for the last two years, at Brockwoodlees Farm.
The Dickinsons currently farm 470 acres and usually have around 440 head of cattle . The herd is predominantly limousin cross sucklers, but David also buys in stock from other local farms to “finish”.
Said David:
“We are long-standing suppliers to Cranstons and proud to be so. Their own standards of food quality match our aims on the farm, to produce the best, locally-produced beef we can, by applying the very highest standards of welfare and husbandry to the cattle we rear. We are delighted and honoured to be recognised as suppliers deserving of this Focus on Quality Award”.
Cranstons Operations Director, Roger Cranston, commented:
“Our Focus on Quality Awards are designed in part to recognise consistent quality over time. In almost 24 years we have never been less than delighted with the quality of the beef produced by David and his team. We are delighted to have been able to recognise that fact with one of our Focus on Quality Award certificates today”.
Beef from David Dickinson’s farm at Canonbie is regularly on sale in Cranstons Carlisle Food Hall and in most other Cranstons stores.
