Cranstons Farmers

Orchard House Farm

Martyn Hunter, Orchard House Farm, Newbiggin, near Penrith

"We have been supplying Cranstons with pork since 1976 when my father Bill starting selling pork to James Cranston, father of the current directors. Our long-term partnership with Cranstons has allowed us to develop our business with quality in mind, safe in the knowledge that we have local buyer who appreciates our high production standards, and our commitment to producing excellent, truly flavoursome pork."

High Knipe Farm

Robert & Gillian Dickinson, High Knipe Farm, Askham, Eden Valley

"When I started producing Beef at High Knipe Farm over twenty years ago Jimmy Cranston was my first major customer, today I supply Roger Cranston direct from the farm. Our 100 head herd of Limousin cross suckler cattle grazes the high pastures of the Eden Valley during the summer creating tender and succulent beef. Cranstons have a reputation within the local farming community for buying only the best quality cattle so being selected as one of their key suppliers is real compliment to any stockman."

Far Broom Farm

Geoff Bell, Far Broom Farm, Long Marton, Eden Valley

"I have been dealing with Cranstons for over thirty years, supplying them with Limousin cross cattle from my suckler herd. Its great to see the meat we have produced on sale locally and available for people outside the region to enjoy on-line. Cranstons team of butchers always make an excellent job of hanging and preparing it, doing justice to the hard work we put in on the farm."

Spittle Farm

Mark & Rachel Dodgson and family, Spittle Farm, Kendal

"My family have supplied Cranstons for over 10 years, we have a great working relationship with Roger Cranston who regularly visits to see the flock and pick out the best lambs. Our texel cross sheep are all bred and reared on the farm, we prefer to breed and raise our own rather than buying them in to fatten as it gives us greater quality control resulting in a tastier product."

We also buy speciality meats in seasonally from specialist farms...

Anthorn Farm

Mike Waning, Farm Manager, Anthorn Farm, Southern shores of the Solway Firth

"We supply Cranstons with our Salt Marsh Lamb from August through to November. Our lambs graze the pastures on the banks of the Solway which are washed daily with the salty tidal water between the spring and autumn. The resulting lamb far from tasting salty, has a sweet, fragrant and distinctive flavour- a real regional delicacy."
