We did it! An 8 man Cranstons team completed Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland's ''Challenge 20'' Event on 3rd June raising over £2700 for the charity.
Stephen Hinnet, Philip Cranston, Rob McManus, Mark Raine, Melissa Chappelhow, Jane Silburn, Callum O'Neill and Dave Dobson completed the 10 peak, 20 mile fell walk in just over 11 hours.
The team set out from Braithwaite Village Hall at 6am and had reached the summit of the first fell Catbells by 7am. From there they summitted Maiden Moor, High Spy, Dale Head and Robinson before descending to Buttermere for lunch.
In the afternoon the team conquered Whiteless Pike, Wandope, Crag Hill, Sail and Barrow before descending for a well-earned cup of tea at the Village Hall. The total ascent was around 8000 ft …no easy stroll.
Cranstons has been proud to be associated with Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland throughout its 20 year history. Many of our staff, their families, and friends of the business have benefited from the wonderful service that Hospice at Home provide, often in extremely difficult circumstances.
Rob McManus who was part of the team said ''We had a fantastic day on the fells, the route was really tough, far harder than any of us had anticipated. Descending to Buttermere for lunch then having to face Whiteless Pike in the heat of the midday Sun was fairly tough but I am really proud of the whole team for completing! We are all thrilled to have been able to raise a significant amount for this important local charity''.
The event was organised by the Hospice to celebrate the Hospice's 20th Anniversary. Thank you to everyone that sponsored us.
