Master Butchers and Cumbrian Food champions Cranstons opened their new Brampton Food Hall on Monday 15th February. The 2000 square foot Food Hall located in the town’s former HSBC bank replaces Cranstons small shop in the town centre and will offer Brampton customers a much bigger range of Cranstons renowned fresh meat and delicatessen produce along with completely new food and drink ranges from over 20 Cumbrian suppliers.
Mr Vikkis, Claires Handmade, Brysons Bakery, Lakes Free Range Eggs, Cumberland Mustard, Kin Vodka, Appleby Creamery & Eden Brewery are just a handful of the Cumbrian brands that will be on sale alongside Cranstons produce, including their much -loved sausages, bacon, 21 day hung steaks and freshly baked pies. The Food Hall is licensed to sell a range of wine and local ales. It will also offer a hot counter serving takeaway breakfasts and lunches.
In true Cranstons tradition guest of honour Anne Pickles cut a ribbon of sausages to officially open the Food Hall to the public as brampton dignitaries, local suppliers and members of the public looked on. Freelance journalist and former editor of the News and Star Anne has been a loyal Cranstons customer for many years ‘’I am delighted to celebrate two of the principal loves in my life, Cranstons & Brampton on one special day’’.
Managing Director Philip Cranston said, ‘We have been looking to expand our retail presence in Brampton for a number of years as our old shop was very compact. The new larger Food Hall allows us to offer a much bigger range in spacious surroundings- we can now offer four times more butchery produce and three times more delicatessen produce than the old shop plus completely new ranges of local produce. We really hope the people of Brampton will enjoy shopping here.’’
Several hundred curious shoppers passed through the Food Hall on the first day, enjoying a whole host of ‘foodie delights’ in keeping with Cranstons reputation for championing quality local produce. This included a welcome glass of fizz, a slice of Cranstons giant opening day cake made by Bryson’s of Keswick, Cumbrian Canapes featuring the produce on sale in the Food Hall and counter top samples galore.
Manager Mark Mallinson said, ‘’ I am thrilled that we will now be able to offer our very loyal customer base in Brampton a wider range of products and produce from other local suppliers. Our customers had a great rapport with our close-knit team in the old shop so I am pleased that the whole existing shop team is moving with us along with four new sales assistants. I am really proud of the new shop, I just hope that our customers will love it too!’’
CRANSTONS BRAMPTON FOOD HALL is now open from 7:30am-6:00pm Monday to Saturday (closed Sundays)
