Cranstons Cumbrian Food Hall has been shortlisted for a prestigious Butcher's Shop of the Year Award. The annual industry awards are renowned as the premier event for the UK butchery sector.
The Butchers Shop of the Year Awards recognise excellence in craft butchery and winners enter an exclusive group representing the crème de la crème of British butchery.
Cranstons Cumbrian Food Hall is one of 3 national finalists in the ‘Butchers Plus’ category of the national awards and will compete against two other food halls in Newcastle and Leigh-on-Sea. The Butchers Plus category was set up to recognise businesses which have expanded from purely retailing fresh meat and now offer a more comprehensive range of produce.
Alan Brown, Cranstons Food Hall manager explains Cranstons delight at being shortlisted ‘We are thrilled to have been short-listed for this top award, its recognition of the hard work the whole team have put in improving our ranges in recent months. This year we have launched a new frozen ready meal and dessert range, re-launched our freshly baked bread range and expanded our pre-packed meats offer. The judges seemed impressed when they visited on Thursday but we will have to wait and see whether we have done enough to win!’
Cranstons Cumbrian Food Hall opened in 2003 and was subsequently expanded in 2009. It has proved a real hit with both locals and vistors to the area who enjoy shopping the ‘locally sourced’ produce. Alongside Cranstons famous meat products sourced from tried and trusted local farmers, customers can choose from a whole host of delicious and wholesome regional food and drink products supplied by over forty local producers.
Cranstons will now have to wait a few weeks to see if they have been successful. The winner will be announced at a special awards dinner in London on Wednesday 16th November.
