Cranstons Food Hall at Orton Grange, near Carlisle, has beaten strong competition to earn a place in the finals of the prestigious Farm Shop and Deli Awards 2016. The company will go on to vie for the top spot in the ‘Food Hall of the Year’ category. Winners will be announced at the Farm Shop and Deli Show at the Birmingham NEC on Monday 18th April.
The awards recognise the best businesses in their class in the specialist independent retail market. They celebrate the very best standards, levels of service, product innovation and community involvement in the sector. The team of judges, which includes experts from the world of speciality retail, fine food and food media, has whittled down the entries, carrying out a series of ‘secret’ visits to see the retailers in action. Scores will be counted and judged along with online votes from customers ahead of the winners’ unveiling.

Cranstons Food Hall at Orton Grange is part of a retail complex on the Martin family’s working farm just four miles from Carlisle on the busy A595. The site also features a gift shop, café, hair salon, beauty parlour and a swimming pool. The Food Hall stocks produce from over thirty local producers as well as Cranstons own products created using prime beef, pork and lamb from the region’s finest stocksmen. The store also boasts a fully-stocked deli counter, a range of fine wines and local ales, a self-serve salad bar, a takeaway hot lunch counter and a fresh fruit and veg section.
