Cranstons raise 1,800 pounds for Hospice at Home

Cranstons are supporting local charity Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland this festive season.
This week, staff at Cranstons Cumbrian Food Hall  presented a cheque for £1,800 to the Hospice, raised at the company’s recent Christmas Preview evening.

At the cheque presentation, Managing Director Philip Cranston announced Cranstons plans to raise further monies for the charity, pledging to donate 20p from every pack of ‘Pigs in Blankets’ sold this Christmas.

The initial donation of £1,800 presented this week was raised at Cranstons Christmas Charity Preview
Evening which was held on 10th November at the
Food Hall in Penrith. The event, which celebrated local festive produce, was a great success, with almost 200 people in attendance. All ticket and raffle proceeds were donated to the Hospice.

Ullswater School choir sang Christmas carols as guests arrived. Hot mince pies and mulled wine were handed out, and local suppliers including Hesket Newmarket Brewery, Bells of Lazonby, Country Puddings, and Saunders Chocolates were on hand to chat to people about their products and offer ‘tasters’.

Throughout the evening a series of cookery and butchery demonstrations took place, helping people plan their Christmas entertaining.

Cranstons used the cheque presentation as an opportunity to launch the second phase of their fund-raising drive, a 20p donation from every pack of 12 ‘Pigs in Blankets’ sold this festive season.

The best-selling ‘Pigs in Blankets’ consist of tasty Pork Chipolatas wrapped in Cranstons Great Taste Award-winning Streaky Bacon and presented in a ‘ready to roast’ foil tray.

Julie Allen, Hospice at Home Fundraiser, expressed her delight: ‘We are absolutely thrilled that Cranstons are supporting us once again this Christmas. The combination of the Charity Preview night and the product donation will generate much needed funds for the Hospice, allowing us to continue to support patients and their families in their homes.’

Speaking at the cheque presentation and charity product launch, Philip Cranston said, ‘As a well-supported local business, Cranstons are always keen to support the local community. Last year we raised £2,000 for the Hospice through our Christmas fund-raising drive, and this year with the help of our valued customers we look set to surpass this figure.’

Cranstons ‘Pigs in Blankets’ will be on sale at the Cumbrian Food Hall and in Cranstons four traditional butchers shops from Tuesday 28th November.
