Cranstons Quality Butchers have teamed up with local spice champion Adam Marks of Mr Vikki’s Indian Fusion pickles to create two hot summer products.
The Mr Vikki’s Chilli Dog and Mr Vikki’s Spiced Lamb and Banana Burger are launching to meet the strong public demand for gourmet grill and barbecue products.
The Mr Vikki’s Chilli Dog combines Cranstons famous Cumberland Sausage mix with Mr Vikki’s sweet and spicy Chilli Jam. The chilli jam provides a kick to the herby Cumberland mix which makes it ideal for chilli lovers. The Mr Vikki’s Spiced Lamb and Banana Burger combines Cranstons succulent local lamb with Mr Vikki’s multi award winning Banana Habanero Pickle.
The burger was developed by Cumbrian Foodhall butchery manager, Rob McManus. He said: “It may look like a crazy combination on paper but it’s absolutely delicious. It’s one of those weird combinations that just works, like chilli and chocolate. We have been offering the lamb and banana burgers to customers as free tasters and the response has been really positive”
Adam Marks produces his great taste winning range of Indian Fusion Pickles from his production kitchen at Low Hesket in the Eden Valley. The Mr Vikki’s range has won an astonishing 84 Great Taste Awards in eight years. In 2014 alone they picked up 15.
Dan Hunt who works alongside Adam creating Mr Vikki’s said: “Cranstons have been a great customer of Mr Vikki’s for several years, it’s great to see them combining their own local produce with our pickles and we are looking forward to seeing these two tasty products in their counters this summer.”
Alongside their own renowned butchery ranges Cranstons show case produce from over 40 Cumbrian suppliers in their local produce Food Halls at Penrith, Brampton, Orton Grange and Carlisle. The Mr Vikki’s Spiced Lamb and Banana Burger is in Cranstons counters now. The Mr Vikki’s Chilli Dog launches on the 8th May.
