Cranstons picked up the award for 'Best Large Business' at Penrith Chamber of Trade and Commerce’s glitzy Stars of Business Awards ceremony on Friday 14th June.
The awards were put together by Penrith Chamber of Trade to recognise the multitude of thriving businesses in Penrith and the local area and the difference they make to the local economy in our region.
The independent panel of judges said they were particularly impressed with the passion Cranstons had demonstrated in their entry and the ways in which Cranstons had diversified and positively met competition in the town. One judge commented “Cranstons is a business which clearly demonstrates it is at the heart of the community it serves”.
Martin Jones Cranstons Retail Director picked up the award along with Cranstons Finance Director Charles Watt and said ''We are really thrilled to have won this award which demonstrates the role Cranstons plays within the community. 'Local' is at the heart of everything Cranstons do, we employ 160 people, buy meat direct from local farmers and through Penrith Auction Mart. We sell produce sourced from 40 Cumbrian producers, use local service providers and donate several thousand pounds in support of local good causes each year''.
The award is now on display at Cranstons Cumbrian Food Hall. Photo: Martin Jones, Cranstons Retail Director, and Charles Watt, Cranstons Finance Director pick up the award from Margaret Hill and Steven Pinguey from event sponsors Armstrong and Watson.
