Local food champions Cranstons raise 2,377 Pounds for Hospice at Home

Cranstons Quality Butchers presented a cheque for £577 to Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland on Thursday 26th January, adding to the £1,800 already raised this festive season.
The initial amount of £1,800 was raised at the company’s Christmas Preview evening in November, with the remainder being raised through a donation of 20p for every pack of ‘Pigs in Blankets’ sold over Christmas. The packs of twelve ‘Pigs in Blankets’ consist of Cranston’s Pork Chipolatas wrapped in their famous Great Taste Award-winning Streaky Bacon, and have proved to be a real hit this year. Cranston’s Cumbrian Food Hall Manager Alan Brown and Assistant Manager Caroline Dinham presented the cheque to Charity Director Sheila Thompson at their Cumbrian Food Hall on Ullswater Road, Penrith.

Managing Director Philip Cranston said, ‘We are delighted to be able to say that we have surpassed last year’s fundraising figure, and would like to thank our customers for helping to raise what I’m sure will be a very useful figure for Hospice at Home. I would also like to thank our hard-working staff for making this possible.’

Sheila Thomspon, Charity Director, said, ‘We are very grateful to Cranston’s for working in partnership with Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland.  With the support of our Business Partners and local Businesses, we are on target to raise the income budgeted at the beginning of the year to ensure that we are able to meet referrals for care and support. The support of the local community is very important to the Charity, and we look forward to continuing to work together with Cranston’s in 2012 for what will be the Charity’s Fifteenth Anniversary Year.’
