Our Cumbrian Food Hall in Penrith has been shortlisted for a major retail award. The flagship food hall, which brings together butchery expertise and a huge selection of local produce, has been named as a finalist in the Guild of Fine Food’s Shop of the Year Awards.
The Cumbrian Food Hall, which is sited on Ullswater Road in the town, will now undergo two further rounds of judging this summer, including an announced visit from one of the judges and a mystery shop by Shopper’s Anonymous.
Celebrating delis, farm shops, cheesemongers and more, Shop of the Year offers independent retailers a chance to achieve a stamp of approval with real integrity, much like Great Taste does for food and drink products.
The winners for each category will be announced on Thursday 20th September at the Guild of Fine Food’s base in London.
Caroline Dinham, Cumbrian Food Hall Manager: “We are absolutely thrilled to make the shortlist of the Shop of the Year Awards. To be named as a finalist is a huge credit to everyone who works here. We have a fantastic, close team here and it is a testament to their hard work they put in on a daily basis. We have been working particularly hard over this past year to update our ranges and introduce new Cumbrian products to our range from young businesses.”
